Traffic Safety Ambassador Polibatam Invites Academicians to Increase Traffic Safety Awareness

POLIBATAM-Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) is committed to continuously reducing the risk of traffic accidents by increasing the academic community’s awareness about the importance of compliance with traffic rules. Therefore, on Tuesday, 6 June 2023, Politeknik Negeri Batam Traffic Safety Ambassadors were appointed from representatives of the Student Executive Board/Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM), namely Angel Aurora and Nafiansyah Ritonga.

The task of the Traffic Safety Ambassador is to set an instance of good traffic procedures and help to promote traffic safety to all levels of the campus academic community through social media, posters, student activities, and others. “I am very happy to be chosen as the Politeknik Negeri Batam Traffic Safety Ambassador because I can help campaign for K3 regulations, especially regarding driving compliance to avoid accidents,” Said Nafiansyah.

This activity was continued on Wednesday, 7 June 2023, by carrying out traffic safety campaign activities held by the Polibatam K3L (Keselamatan, Kesehatan Kerja dan Lingkungan/Safety, Occupational Health and Environment) Task Force. This activity targets one of the issues related to traffic discipline, especially regarding the use of helmets for two-wheeled vehicles. In this campaign, speeches and promotions were carried out at several strategic points on campus using paper media and loudspeakers by student representatives and Traffic Safety Ambassadors.

This event occurred lively and orderly and received positive appreciation from campus residents. “The program is good, if possible, do it often so that students always remember to obey.” Said Rahman Saleh, a motorbike parking security officer. Angel Aurora, as the Traffic Safety Ambassador, also said that hopefully, by holding this campaign, all students will be more concerned about paying attention to driving safety. We can avoid accidents with an orderly and obedient traffic safety culture.
