Promote Fishers’ Processed Products: Polibatam Informatics Engineering Department Creates Online Promotion and Marketing Media Website

POLIBATAM- Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) Informatics Engineering Department, in collaboration with the Laut Biru Pokmaswas, Batu Besar Village, Nongsa District, Batam City, held training activities on Website Media Promotion and Marketing of Fishers’ Processed Fish products on Saturday, 28 October 2023.

This training aims to empower local fishers and support the promotion of their processed fish products through online media. In the ever-growing digital era, online presence is the key to marketing local products. This training is a strategic step in facilitating fishers to reach a broader market and increase their income sustainably.

Training activities were held on Saturday, 28 October 2023, at the Laut Biru Pokmaswas. In this training, participants learn about website development, online marketing strategies, and best practices in promoting processed fish products. This training was led by experts in the field and included practical sessions to ensure that participants had the necessary skills to create and manage their product promotion website.

Wira, as a representative of the Laut Biru Pokmaswas, said, “This service activity provides benefits for members to be more technologically literate, especially how to become a website admin, and can be a place to convey information related to products, sales or activities carried out.”

“Moreover, members can update information via their respective cellphones, making it easier to add content. “We hope that this collaboration can continue and in the future, training or other activities can also be held that help the economy and member activities,” explained Wira.

This activity also involved Polibatam Informatics Engineering department students so they could gain experience in activities with the community directly. This training involves close collaboration between local fishers and experts in web technology. Participants gain an in-depth understanding of using technology to promote their fish processing products and expand their market reach.

The commitment of the Blue Sea Pokmaswas and Batam State Polytechnic to supporting local fishermen is significant, and this activity is one way to make it happen. They believe that technology can play a significant role in improving the fishers’ economic sustainability.
