Politeknik Negeri Batam Collaborates with Politeknik Negeri Padang to Hold Community Service Activities to Create Promotional Media Websites in Buya Hamka’s Birth Village

POLIBATAM-Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam), together with Politeknik Negeri Padang, held collaborative community service activities in Buya Hamka’s birth village, Nagari Sungai Batang which is located in Tanjung Raya District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province. This activity was motivated by the absence of website-based promotional media owned by this tourism village and an information system that could assist village management services to residents. Thus, in dividing the roles, Politeknik Negeri Batam created a website for promotional media. At the same time, Politeknik Negeri Padang created an Information System to be used as a medium for Village Management services to residents.

The website that has been created can be opened at riverbatang.com. This website will later be used as promotional media for the tourism village and become the main gateway for communicating with potential visitors. It presents information about the location, facilities, photo and video galleries, as well as what tourist attractions are in the village. It is hoped that this website become a tool for the village to become inclusive of cultural heritage tourism.

Meanwhile, the information system can be opened at riverbatang.id. This information system provides profiles, potential, facilities, population data, statistical data, news, maps, and regulations. The hope is that this information system can help village administrators serve their citizens digitally, making it easier to manage data and provide faster service.

This activity has been undertaken since July 2023 and was handed over and socialized to the tourism village management on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Apart from the handover and socialization, training was also carried out for the village management to use the website media and information system properly and correctly.

Village administrators who also attended this event included the Mayor of Jorong and the Nagari Sungai Batang officials. The handover, socialization, and training activities ran smoothly and successfully and ended with a group photo and a visit to the museum where Buya Hamka was born.

“Hopefully, what we have created can produce many benefits for Nagari Sungai Batang, and hopefully, on other occasions or activities, we can continue and improve this collaborative activity,” said Daniel Sutopo Pamungkas, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., the Head of P3M Politeknik Negeri Batam and Dr. Ir. Yuhefizar, S.Kom., M.Kom., the Head of P3M Politeknik Negeri Padang.
