Politeknik Negeri Batam and Indonesian Red Cross Increase Synergy to Discuss Cooperation
POLIBATAM: Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) received a visit from the Indonesian Red Cross/Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI) on Thursday, 11 May 2023, at the Polibatam Director’s room. At this meeting, the Assistant Director II of Polibatam, Bambang Hendrawan, S.T., M.S.M., revealed many things related to the potential and opportunities for cooperation that could be built between Polibatam and PMI in Batam City.
“Collaboration and synergy are very important so that they have a positive impact on society. And the scope is very broad, it can produce products, information and education communication (IEC) media, and innovative services that provide real benefits and contributions to society,” said Bambang.
One of PMI Batam City’s breakthroughs is a humanitarian project scheme and programs involving students. This is the response and implementation of the Freedom Learning, Independent Campus program echoed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
Deputy Chairperson of PMI Batam, Dr. John Sulistijawan, said: “Through this program, students can apply the scientific understanding gained from their study program and implement it to solve challenges on humanitarian issues. The cooperation will be agreed upon and outlined in a memorandum of understanding or MoU,” said John.
John hopes Polibatam can also accommodate students interested in the social and humanitarian fields by establishing the Voluntary Corps/Korps Sukarela (KSR) Student Activity Unit. According to him, the presence of KSR amid society will be more meaningful, both for oneself and for the excellent name of the campus in the eyes of the community,” he concluded.
Hopefully, the collaboration between Polibatam and PMI will soon be realized, and the role of Polibatam students can increase in social and humanitarian abilities, especially in Batam City.
Greetings Polibatam.
