Polibatam Won National Champion in the National Welding Competition (NWC) 2023

POLIBATAM-Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) students of the Mechanical Engineering Department made another achievement at the National event, the National Welding Competition (NWC) 2023, which was held at the Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya, on 15-18 August 2023.

This activity is a prestigious event in welding technology, sponsored by Bakorma (Badan Koordinasi Kemahasiswaan) of Indonesian Polytechnics. The NWC 2023 was attended by 139 students/participants from around 30 polytechnics throughout Indonesia. This competition comprises six categories, including 2G SMAW Pipe Welding, 2G GMAW Pipe, 2G GTAW Pipe, 3G SMAW Plate, 3G GMAW Plate, and SMAW Challage. The stages of this competition consist of one round with an assessment method including 30% theory, 50% Visual, and 20% Radiography.

Polibatam students of several study programs, including Mechanical Engineering Study Program students on behalf of Jonatan Gultom won 1st place in the SMAW challage category. A student from the Ship Construction Engineering Technology Study Program on behalf of M.Syhareza Muslim won 3rd place in the 3G SMAW category; Ferdy M. Aldhani was runner-up in the 3G Plate GMAW category. A student of the Welding and Fabrication Engineering Study Program on behalf of Novriyaldi Raja Sinaga won 1st place in the SMAW 3G category; Muhammad Riko was runner-up in GTAW PIPE 2G; and Johnson Immanuel Simanjuntak won 3rd place in the GMAW PIPE 2G category.
