Polibatam Students Defeat America, Win the International Ship Design Competition in America

ACHIEVEMENT-Mechanical Engineering Department of Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) won an international level ship design competition in America, on Thursday (24/11/2022). Polibatam sent a team consisting of 7 students and 1 supervisor. The Ninth Annual International Student Design Competition for a Safe Affordable Ferry organized by the Worldwide Ferry Safety Association (WFSA) in 2022 is attended by 22 registered teams from schools or campuses in Asia, Europe, and North America.

The ship designed by Polibatam NAVTECH is a type of Ferry Ship with a single hull (mono-hull) to carry passengers and vehicles in river waters which has won second place in the international arena.

The Director of Polibatam, Uuf Brajawidagda, in his instruction, expressed his gratitude and believed that Polibatam students would be able to compete on the international stage. “Thank God we gain the podium and we believe that Polibatam students can compete,” he said.

The team leader of Polibatam NAVTECH, Muhammad AL Hadiy thanked his supervising lecturer, Mr. Naufal Abdurrahman. “We are grateful to the supervisor who has brought us to this point,” said the ship planning and construction study program student. (FREY)
