Polibatam Sends a Student to Study for a Master in England, Supervised by Prof Benny from Coventry University, England
POLIBATAM- Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) scored another achievement. This time, one of the prospective graduates will be sent to Coventry University, England. This was marked by a symbolic handover of a Polibatam student (Gabriella Stephanie) as the recipient of a Master-Reseach scholarship at Coventry University, England, to Prof. Benny Tjahjono, Ph.D., MSc., BEng., as supervisor, in meeting room 301 of the main building of the Polibatam campus, Thursday (31/8/2023).
Prof. Benny Tjahjono, Ph.D., MSc., BEng. is a Sustainability and Supply Chain Management Professor at the Coventry University campus, United Kingdom (UK). Gabriella was once one of the Polybatam students who participated in a student exchange program supervised by Prof. Benny.
Deputy Director II for General Administration and Finance of Polibatam, Bambang Hendrawan ST., MSM., CIPMP., CISCP., stated that Gabriella had been a Polibatam delegate following a student exchange program supervised by Prof. Benny Tjahjono. Bambang added on that occasion, Polibatam also collaborated with Prof. Benny Tjahjono to hold the Initiation of a collaborative consortium between Coventry University and vocational campuses in Sumatra.
Another Polibatam lecturer added that Polibatam is open if Gabriella wants to return to Indonesia after graduating from Masters/Doctoral studies and would like to teach at Polibatam.
Present at that time, the Head of the Polibatam Departments; Polibatam International Affairs Office (IAO)/Kantor Urusan International (KUI); Politeknik Negeri Medan IAO; Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis IAO; Politeknik Manufaktur Negeri Bangka Belitung IAO; and Polibatam lecturers.
Meanwhile, the Chair of Polibatam Research and Community Service (P3M), Dr. Daniel Sutopo, added that this event was related to the initiation of a consortium of vocational campuses with the Coventry University campus regarding research, journal publications, student exchanges, co-supervisor collaboration for master and doctorate’s scholarships for vocational campus students and lecturers in Sumatra.
There was also a campus tour session of Polibatam facilities in the Polibatam Technopreneur Center building and the Business & Technology in Tower A building. “Hopefully, with the initiation of a collaborative consortium between vocational campuses in Sumatra and Coventry University and with guidance from Prof. Benny, more and more of our lecturers and students can get scholarships for further studies at the Coventry University campus,” said Daniel.
Daniel also conveyed joint research collaboration and an offer to Prof Benny to become the keynote speaker at the annual international scientific seminar of Polibatam, ICAE and ICAESS.
On that occasion, a lecturer from Politeknik Negeri Medan, Dewi, said that other polytechnics were older and existed earlier, but Polibatam has been progressing and developing faster than other polytechnics.
