Polibatam Lecturers Accompany Students of SMK N 1 Batam, Gain Achievements at National Level in the Field of Robotic Manufacturing Systems (RMS)
POLIBATAM-A team of lecturers from the Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) Center of Excellence Robotics and Automation (CRA) succeeded in helping students and teachers of SMK Negeri 1 Batam in preparation for the Student Competency Competition/Lomba Kompetensi Siswa (LKS) in the field of Robotic Manufacturing Systems (RMS).
The lecturer team include Eko Rudiawan Jamzuri, Rifqi Amalya Fatekha, Dodi Radot Lumbantoruan, and Ryan Satria Wijaya. This activity is proposed as a Community Service/Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) with the aim of providing a solution to the problems of SMK Negeri 1 Batam in preparing students to take LKS in the RMS field.
Through this mentoring activity, students and teachers at SMK Negeri 1 Batam receive guidance from the team of lecturers and instructors from Polibatam who have expertise in the field of robotics, especially the Collaborative Robot (Cobot) used in the RMS competition. In this mentoring activity, students are provided with training material, which is held once a week for three months in the Polibatam robotics lab.
With the regular training program held, students who are prospective competition participants can prepare themselves more optimally so that they can achieve maximum results during the competition.
The results of this mentoring activity proved to be very satisfying. Two students from SMK Negeri 1 Batam, Esa Ofandra and Bryan Nathanael Saragih, who represented the Riau Islands Province, succeeded in achieving fourth place with the Medallion for Excellence award at the national LKS in the Robotic Manufacturing System category.
The competition, which was held from 23 to 29 October 2023 in Surabaya, was attended by vocational school students from all over Indonesia. Esa and Bryan’s success shows that the LKS mentoring activities in the RMS field held by the CRA Polibatam lecturer team have been practical and have had a direct impact on the training participants.
With this mentoring activity, it is hoped that students and teachers at SMK Negeri 1 Batam will be better prepared to face the future national LKS competition in the field of RMS.
