Polibatam Holds Community Service of Cyber Security Awareness (Phishing) Workshop Series for Vocational School Students

POLIBATAM- Polibatam Cyber Team Center of Excellence (PCTeam CoE) and the Cyber Security Engineering Study Program (RKS) held a Community Service activity entitled “Cyber Security Awareness (Phishing) Workshop Series in the Suburban Area of the Riau Islands”.

This activity was successfully carried out at SMKN 1 Batam, SMK Multistudi High School (MHS) Batam, and SMKN 1 Tanjung Pinang on 3, 10 and 12 October 2023. The activities aim to increase digital security literacy related to Phishing, which is currently widespread.

“The workshop participants can leave a positive footprint for the future of surfing in a safer cyber world in the Riau Islands,” explained Hamdani, the Head of the Polibatam RKS Study Program.

A variety of material related to phishing has been presented in this workshop series, including the results of survey analysis of participant involvement in Phishing, how to identify Phishing, various types of Phishing, flashbacks of Phishing, as well as best practices in protecting yourself from the dangers of Phishing, “Users are the weakest link in cyber security“.

“Socialization or education related to the importance of digital security knowledge is the key to protecting oneself from the threat of cyber-attacks which have been increasing recently,” said Hamdani.

Hopefully, with this community service, in the future, vocational school students in the Riau Islands Province will be safer when using the internet.
