Polibatam Develops Customs Expert Certification, Cooperating with Customs Expert Association
NEWS- Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) and the Association of Customs Experts or Asosiasi Tenaga Ahli Kepabeanan (ATAK) signed a cooperation agreement regarding the development of Customs Expert Certification at the Polibatam Technopreneur Center Building, Wednesday (24/8/2022).
The event was attended by the Academic Director of Vocational Higher Education, Dr. Beni Bandanadjaya, S.T., M.T.; Expert Staff of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Cecep Sosmantri., Ph.D.; ILO Indonesia Representative, Leohansen Simatupang; Director Business Partnerships and Project Manager International Projects City of Glasgow College (COGC), Carla Gethin and Ranjith Sankaranayanan; General Chairman of ATAK, Sunaryo and his staff; and the Director of Polibatam, Uuf Brajawidagda, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.
This agreement is to develop a certification scheme, training, competency test, and joint issuance of Customs Expert certificates for job seekers, study program students (International Trade Logistics Study Program/Logistik Perdagangan Internasional (LPI), employees, and the general public.
Polibatam, especially in the LPI study program, together with ATAK, supported by the ILO Indonesia and the British Embassy Jakarta through the Skills for Prosperity Program, has developed a Customs Expert Certification Scheme to meet the challenges of the need for Customs Experts.
Based on statistical data in February 2022, the National Examination for Customs Expert Certification was attended by 349 people, passing 28 or only 8% of the total participants. This means that the need for skilled personnel in the customs sector is very high. This encourages LPI study programs to collaborate with ATAK to develop certification schemes, training, competency tests, and joint issuance of Customs Expert certificates for job seekers, International Trade Logistics Study Program students, employees, and the public.
Through this scheme, it is expected to increase opportunities and access for hinterland communities, job seekers, high school/vocational graduates, marginalized groups, and the general public to be able to have expertise in the customs field and fill the need for skilled human resources in the customs field. This collaboration is one of the attampts of Recover Faster, Rise Stronger.
