Polibatam Collaborates with Industry to Hold Visual Inspection Training for Welders at SMK Negeri 6 Batam

POLIBATAM-Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) conducts community service by collaborating with industry in providing training for SMK Negeri 6 Batam students majoring in welding. This training aims to provide additional visual inspection skills for prospective welders from SMKN 6 Batam.

“This activity is the second year that has been carried out by Polibatam and SMKN 6 Batam along with industry partners and was attended by 30 selected students.” said Domi, the head of the activity. Domi added that in the previous year, this training produced CSWIP 3.0 certified graduates currently working in international fabrication companies.

The training provided follows the CSWIP 3.0 welding inspector, Teguh Prasetia Kusuma Wardana as a welding engineer from Lloyd’s Register, explaining the importance of visual inspection knowledge as a welder. In addition, Teguh also revealed the importance of visual inspection skills and certification in the welding industry. This community service activity was conducted on Wednesday, 7 June 2023, at SMKN 6 Batam. The activity began with giving motivation from industrial practitioners to the participants and then continued with the presentation of material and practice. Finally, a selection is made to determine the best students who will receive a CSWIP 3.0 certification scholarship.

SMKN 6 Batam very well received this training. “We very much welcome this activity and hope that it can be carried out on an ongoing basis,” said Abdul Mukti, the Principal of the School.
