Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Inaugurates Halal Center and LPH Office at Polibatam Campus

POLIBATAM-Polibatam campus helps facilitate the Halal certification process for MSMEs by building a Halal Center Office and Halal Inspection Agency/Lembaga Pemeriksa Halal (LPH). The Halal Center and LPH were inaugurated directly by the Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI), i.e. Juda Agung, accompanied by the Head of BI Kepri, Musni Hardi K Atmaja, and the Director of Polibatam, Uuf Brajawidagda, on 23 December 2022.

In addition to the venue facilities, BI together with Polibatam have provided training to approximately 200 people in general, with 113 participants who passed and received halal assistance certification.

The halal industry is a very potential economic sector and is experiencing very rapid global development. The halal industry has developed further, not limited to the food sector, but has expanded to the cosmetics, agriculture, pharmaceutical, fashion, and service industries, such as tourism and finance. This development was triggered by changes in the mindset of Muslim consumers and ethical consumer trends around the world.

The government through BPJPH has made it easy for MSMEs to obtain halal certificates, especially for products with simple compositions and processes through a self-declaring mechanism, which allows the certification process without inspection in a relatively long time and at a relatively expensive cost.

“It is hoped that the Halal Center and LPH Office in Polibatam can help and facilitate the public and MSMEs in obtaining halal certificates, so that halal certification can be carried out more quickly and at a standardized and affordable cost,” said Musni.
“After Polibatam was awarded the Top 3 Best program of IHYA, one of the initiatives is to facilitate the development of the halal industry by providing existing facilities at Polibatam,” said Uuf Brajawidagda, as the Director of Polibatam.

MSMEs in the halal certification process are assisted by certified halal assistants and supported by more complete facilities.
